We did the Lares Trek and had an absolutely amazing experience with Alpaca Expeditions, even during the rainy season! Everything was perfectly organized, professional, and thoughtfully planned. The food was incredible, Chef Melquiades truly outdid himself. It’s hard to believe how delicious and creative meals can be while camping! Our guide Reynaldo was outstanding. He shared fascinating insights, played soccer with us at 4,000 meters above sea level, and made sure we had the best time and an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended, we loved every moment!
We did the Lares Trek in Febuary this year and we had an amazing time with Alpaca Expeditions. We couldn’t have wished for a better guide (Reynaldo) and we got the best traditional food cooked by Melquiades!! We probably haven’t eaten better in our lives! The whole experience was just outstanding and the organisation of the whole trip was just so good. We got a lot of information on the nature, the local traditions, the animals living in the Andean mountains and questions were always welcome! We would always book alpaca again! Thanks a lot for creating all those special memories for us!
Alpaca tour was great! I was fortunate enough to book only 5 days before the trek and the sales team were super responsive. I did the 4 day / 3 night trek which is perfect if you want to be immersed in nature for a few days (2 day, 1 night is good if you don’t like camping). The views are truly breathtaking. Our tour guide Joel, the chefs and porters work hard to make the experience enjoyable and comfortable for you which I appreciated as I don’t camp! There was 1 hiccup where they got some of our groups train tickets wrong but Joel & Alpaca team resolved quickly and they got a later train. Thank you Alpaca team!
This tour was absolutely incredible, our tour guide Rodrigo Guty made the trip so special and memorable. Teaching us about Inca culture and showing us lots of archeological sites. Julian and his team of porters made the journey smooth for us, they also made walking up dead woman’s pass look easy. The food was delicious, I wish I could eat that well everyday! See you soon alpaca expeditions. Thank you again to Rodrigo and Julian for making our trip so unforgettable
I have just finished the 4D 3N Inca trail with Alpaca Expeditions and had an incredible time. Our guide Rodrigo Guty was amazing; he was so friendly and knowledgeable about the history. Julian and his team of porters were also wonderful; the food was so good and the whole team made this experience a special one.
We did the 4 day Inca trail with Rodrigo Guty and Julian’s team of porters. We had the best experience - the trail itself was amazing but the food, the organisation of the porters and Rodrigo Guty made the trip. Rodrigo was so knowledgeable and encouraging for the whole trip telling us all about the history of the Inca trail. The food was incredible, different dishes everyday including a cake, pizza and traditional Peruvian food. The porters were very attentive, ensuring everything was perfect for us at the campsites. 10/10
We had the best experience with Alpaca Expeditions. It was the most organized, informed and thoughtfully planned trip. Our guides name was Sabino and we didn’t have to think once we were in his capable hands. From hotels, to packing information, to meals, to tickets - it was seamless. He was extremely knowledgeable about everything and anything. Some tours are boring but he made it super fascinating. We did the sacred valley, Inca trail, Matcu Pittchu trip and it was challenging. I hesitated going with the rest of my family to the peak of Huayna picchu because it was so steep but he gave me the push I needed. So very happy I did it. I went outside my comfort zone and it will be a core memory forever. I could not recommend alpaca expeditions more! But Sabi made it so so worthwhile. He was the perfect mix of kind, intelligent, authentic, and genuine. One of the best trips we’ve ever taken and I’ve fallen in love with Peru.
What an amazing adventure we had on our 4-day hike on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! Thanks to our expert guides from Alpaca Expeditions, as well as the helpful staff, super chef and hard-working porters! Our trek was quite challenging (due to the high elevation), even though we had cardio-trained for many months, so it was nice to be able to carry a lighter day pack, as the porters carried additional our gear, along with tents, food and camp kitchen, and a bit of luxury in the field - a portable toilet. Our two guides made a great team. The lead guide Americo was an excellent speaker and his experience showed as he told us about Incan history and culture, giving us a deeper appreciation for the many sites we encountered. Richard, a.k.a., “the Professor” was very knowledgable about many facts and details. We were especially intrigued by his demonstration of the Incan counting system. Every day tested our endurance, but our perseverance was rewarded by the expansive Andean mountain views, waterfalls, tropical plants, animal sightings and numerous incredible Incan sites and terraces. We walked at a pace that was comfortable, “slow and steady… you’re on vacation”, they said. However, our leg muscles did not consider this a holiday. For those of us in the group who needed extra time, one guide would fall back to accompany and encourage them. Of course, the hardy porters, acclimatized to the low oxygen levels and energized by coca leaves, would race ahead even with their much heavier packs. By the time we’d arrive at our lunch or evening camp, everything would be set up and ready for us. The meals were delicious and provided us with the energy we needed on the trail. The chef was always able to surprise us with unexpected camp food, such as pizza, quiche and cake. Only a skilled chef could produce such a variety of delicious dishes in the middle of the jungle on the side of a mountain. After dinner, we would retire to our tents for a somewhat restless sleep. The tents were “gringo-sized” - quite roomy for two, and we had opted for the comfy sleeping mats. But it was the altitude or perhaps recalling memories of the day that kept us awake until the sounds of the river or rain on the tent finally sang us to sleep. Before the sun rose, Richard was cheerfully calling, “Good morning, amigos! I have for you some hot coca tea!”, which we would sip on while dressing and packing away our sleeping bags. Then after breakfast, Americo would brief us on what we expected to encounter for the day. “The trail today is Inca flat - up and down”. Each day revealed its own challenges and secrets. Hiking up stole the breath, while descending down the tall steps stressed the knees. And yet the pain was merely the offering we made to the Earth Mother Pachamama and the Sun Father to bless us on our pilgrimage to the famed “Lost City”. On the last day, a familiar mountain we’ve seen in the photos revealed itself through the trees, and we were excited to hear that Machu Picchu lies just on the other side. As we approached, we were greeted by alpacas and the clouds over the ancient city parted like a curtain. A sacred condor flew overhead - only the second time that Americo had seen one here, which we took as a fortunate sign. We explored the ruins with our guides giving us many details to ponder. It truly is a magical and awe-inspiring place. Later, we boarded the bus to Aguas Calientes town for lunch and a farewell toast to our hiking family and fellow travelers. We go on with our hearts full of memories and an experience we will always cherish.
Experiencia extraordinaria!
We recently completed four single-day tours plus a 2-day Inca Trail/Machu Picchu trek with Alpaca Expeditions, and the experience far exceeded our expectations! Our two guides, Jamie and Marcela, were outstanding—extremely knowledgeable, incredibly helpful, and genuinely fun to be around. They made every moment enjoyable and educational. As a couple aged 66 and 68, we found the trekking challenging at times, but both guides provided tremendous support with pacing advice, encouragement, and practical assistance whenever needed. Their patience and expertise made it all manageable and rewarding. All the tours featured interesting, well-balanced itineraries with a great mix of walks, historical sites, and cultural insights. Everything ran smoothly, thanks to Alpaca Expeditions' clear expertise in handling Peru's tourism logistics—they're flexible, responsive, and their infrastructure is obviously well-tested and reliable. If we were to do it again, we'd probably build in a rest day or two for recovery but that's our only minor suggestion. We’ll be enthusiastically recommending Alpaca Expeditions to all our friends and family. If you're considering a trip to Peru, especially the Inca Trail or Machu Picchu, look no further—this company delivers! I also want to add a shout out to Yasmina who helped us through the booking process. She was very responsive and helpful Thank you Alpaca for our memorable trip
Thanks to Wilber and Jose and the amazing porters and chef who just made our 4 day/3 night Inca trail trek truly memorable. It was very challenging but we always felt at ease and the support team setting up camp and cooking amazing food in such remote areas amazes me. We had a great group and felt the camaraderie always.
Thank you so much to Wilber Ocon and José Santos for ensuring the most incredible experience on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (4 day trek). Thanks also to Fabian Fuentes and his team for cooking us delicious homemade meals. We tested our strength, learned about Inca history, played games together, and created wonderful memories. Through sunshine and rain, we had smiles on our faces. Thank you for making our trip so memorable. 10/10 recommend 🙂
We had the most phenomenal experience doing the four day Inca trek with Alpaca Tours. Our guides Wilber Ocon and Jose Santos were simply brilliant! Friendly, informative and all round wonderful people. They made our group feel like a family. Couldn’t recommend a tour with them more! It’s a once in a lifetime experience thanks to them.
2 day / 1 night Machu Picchu… challenging at moments, but the unexpected reward of the raw natural state of the trails as travelled in the past by the Incas was unmatched to any challenge. Lucio our guide was kind, patient, informative and shared a passion for the region with his guests like a true ambassador. Donato the chef treated us to gourmet multi-course meals along the way. The quiet leadership of Lucio in trek met with the rewarding meals of Donato was nothing short of gift whole traveling this beautiful country of Peru.
Choosing alpaca expeditions as our tour guide for hiking machu picchu was such an amazing decision. From start to finish we felt looked after and in good hands. Our tour guide, Herlin, was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. Hiking to machu picchu and being able to observe it's beauty and learn about it's wonderful history is something I'll never forget. Thank you very much!
We did the 2 day 1 night Inca trail and Machu Pichu tour with Alpaca expeditions and it was excellent. We went with the camping option which was also a fun experience. Yoel was an excellent guide, providing us with lots of information along the way and taking lots of photos for us. Greqorio Q. prepared brilliant food for our lunch, dinner and breakfast. Overall it was a fantastic tour.
We had a wonderful experience on the 2D1N Machu Picchu Inca trail trek. Our guide Yoel was wonderful - he always explained in great detail anything and everything we saw on the trek. He took so many brilliant photos and overall was a complete joy. We both had great fun exploring thanks to Yoel. Our chef Gregorio Q was also fantastic - he even prepared gluten free food for myself and my partner and it was truly delicious! Thank you again Yoel and team, it was a magical experience!
This 2-day/1-night Inca Trail hike with Alpaca Expeditions was absolutely amazing! The scenery was unreal, the organization was excellent, and the guides were informative, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire trek. A memorable experience from start to finish. Romario and Jhojan were so amazing. I could not have finished the trek without them. From their positive support to helping carry my pack on the harder parts, they made it possible. We also loved learning from Romario. He captivated us with all of the Inca information. We couldn’t have had better guides with us!
We had the most amazing experience all thanks to Romario, Jhojan and Luis. This was a truly unforgettable experience that we’ll be remembering forever. Romario was the most encouraging, knowledgeable and animated guide we could have asked for. Jhojan watched over us and took such good care of us along the entire trek. Luis made us a phenomenal lunch that we were highly anticipating for the whole way up. I wouldn’t change a single thing about the team, everything was perfection. There is no expression for how grateful we are for this entire experience. Gracias todos ♥️
Romario, Jhojan, Luis we’re excellent host of our trip. We did a 2 day, hotel stay Machu Picchu. Romario taught us a tremendous amount in a very energetic way. There were so many laughs, the group of 9 bonded well. I wish we had time for a longer tour, if only we could take Alpaca tours with us every where we go on tours.
Really special experience - would highly recommend. The logistics and organisation was really smooth. Our guide Herlin knew so much about the history, culture, flora and fauna. The hike itself was very doable, and fun, even in the rain. The payoff was incredible - Machu Picchu is a highlight for life. Highly recommend Alpaca Tours, especially as they support the local community. The food cooked by the team also exceeded my expectations - usually on treks like this, food is an afterthought. But we had pumpkin soup, avocado salad, fried fish, Lomo Saltado, corn and cheese, rice, potatoes - you name it! It was really, really good.
Fabulous from start to finish We did the 5day 4 night whole Inca trail with alpaca expeditions as a family of adults and it was brilliant. The tour was extremely well organised and our tour guide Rolando was amazing, he was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions with ease and we had a lot of questions!! He was knowledgeable not only about all things on the trail but also the local wildlife and plants we saw a long the way. He made sure everyone on the trek was well supported and included, allowing us to walk at our own pace taking in the whole environment along the way. The porters are exceptional and we were amazed at the way they are able to move on t his trail whilst carrying unbelievable weights in there bags, they did it all with a smile on each of their faces and you never saw them once complain. The head porter Juan made sure everyone knew their job and they were incredibly professional so and friendly always happy to help if needed. The chef Alejandro cooks 3 meals a day with a wide selection of fresh foods, my daughter is vegetarian and every meal she had her own special individual dish prepared fresh. The food is unbelievable and Alejandro even managed to make a cake on the last day!! All cooked in a tent, he is truly a magician! I can not recommend this tour company enough, they will make your trip to Machu Picchu an unforgettable experience, making memories that will last a lifetime.
This was the best tour I’ve taken. Such a difficult and challenging hike and conditions but Americo, Richard and the rest of the porters did more than their best to make us feel comfortable and be able to complete the hike. In these difficult situations what makes a difference is the people and on this trip the people were amazing. Americo and Richard were sooo helpful, friendly and ready to answer all of our questions. Literally they are the reason I had such and amazing experience. Lastly, the porters were so kind and always willing to help us. Hard working people that were doing miracles for us and always smiled and clapped for us. The team we had was amazing and I highly recommend booking with Alplaca and asking for Richard and Americo!!!
We went on 4d/ 3n Inca trail! It was very challenging but it was so worth it! Our lead tour guide was Americo. He taught us history about indigenous people and culture of Inca. We learned how they passed the information between generations, mathematics, lifestyle and so much more. Americo answered all of our questions , even the silly ones. He shared his recommendations with us. Would highly recommend going on this adventure with the tour guides just like him! Our second guide was Richard, extremely knowledgeable about flora and fauna. He pointed out so many plants along the way, let us smell it and told us about its history. Both were very kind and helpful, made sure we are safe and taking our time . 10/10 recommend this tour! Definitely is tiring and painful along the way, but the views and experience was so worth it! Thank you !
We had an amazing trip thanks to our knowledgable and helpful guides Americo and Richard. The chefs were able to prepare delicious food even with the limited cooking facilites. The porters were impressive with the speed at which they navigated the trail with heavy packs on. Highly recommend Alpaca Expedition to anyone considering the inca trail.
Rolando was 10/10 and the whole experience was just amazing. The views the porters our guide THE FOOD the nature, literally everything was thought out so perfectly to make our experience perfect. My group and i are so thankful for everyone who helped make this experience so good! Being able to start our Machu Picchu experience at the sun gate is something we will all remember and cherish forever! For anyone who is hesitant about the price just know it is all worth it
We did the one day sacred valley tour and the two day/one night Inca trail tour with camping. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The sacred valley tour was a mix of Peruvian culture and Incan ruins. The campsite was rustic but great for seeing birds and other wildlife. The two day Incan trail tour to Machu Picchu was better than we imagined. The one day hike is challenging but not overly difficult. The smaller and isolated ruins are well worth the trek as is the hike through the cloud forest. Near the end of the hike as Inti Punku which offers some of the best views of Machu Picchu and which you cannot experience without doing one of the Inca trail tours. The second day offered a tour of Machu Picchu itself that starts an hour before the majority of tourists are allowed into the ruins. Our tour guide, Sabino, made the tour especially great. His knowledge of and connection to the history of Machu Pichu and Incan culture gave us a unique perspective of the ruins that we would have never been able to get on our own.
Had the best couple of days (2D1N) with Javi (Javier) and Alpaca Expeditions. From start to finish everything was slick, professional and really fun. We learned loads, laughed a lot, and couldn’t fault the experience at all. It was genuinely really special, thanks Javi and AE! We’ll be back!
Amazing tour. We experienced all types of weather and it was still amazing. Our guide was knowledgeable and provided information throughout our hike and at Machu Picchu. The way the tour is set up, you get to visit the site on two separate days which gives you the best chance of getting good weather and different viewpoints
Did the 4 day/3 night Inca Trail. Amazing experience. Joyce and Manuel were fantastic tour guides, offering so much insight along the way. Moses, the chef, was truly a chef. All his meals were first-class, with so much left to spare. I could not imagine being so well fed on the trail. Cesar and the porters made our journey light, and took care that our tents, bedding, and personal items were waiting fo us at camp. Visiting the Inca sites only available along the trail was a real treat!
I cannot say enough about Alpaca Expeditions!! My mom and I did a lot of research on groups. Alpaca Expeditions was highly rated and, after our trip, I cannot say enough about their hospitality, planning, and food. From the briefing to the last moment before the train, our trip leaders, Joyce and Manuel, made sure we were properly prepared for the day. They let us hike at our own pace, but always made sure we were with someone and would bring the group together to learn about Incan history. Safety was clearly key, but not without the humor! As for the porters, the head porter, Cesar, always made sure that when we came into came, everything was set up for us. Our tents, bags, and sleeping pads were always set up for us. Often, we were met with hot water to wash our hands with and clean water to drink. Camps were broken down with efficiency everyday so we could hit the trails bright and early! Lastly, the food is impeccable. You may wonder, what can you actually make while camping the answer is everything! Moises, the chef, made cake, pizza, pasta, stuffed potatoes, fish. Basically you name it, he could make it! It felt like we were fine dining throughout the whole experience. On the last day, he made us breakfasts to go for our early wake up. We were up everyday between 3-5, meaning he was up at least an hour beforehand to cook (in the dark) for us. He too, had to hike, and then would make some of the most delicious food we had eaten. Again, the entire company is AMAZING!!! If you come to Peru to visit Machu Picchu, book through Alpaca!
Really had no idea what to expect but whatever it was my expectations were completely blown away! Moises the chef and his team prepared meals that would have been astounding at sea level and coming out of a high-end restaurant kitchen. That they made this delicious, beautiful, nourishing food at altitude with only ingredients and cookware that was hauled up the mountain is beyond imagination. Helping to carry everything to feed us and make a cozy camp every night was Cesar and his incredible porter team. Their effort, industriousness, and professionalism was off the charts. With chefs and porters like these guys, the Inca Trail is beyond magical. Our guides, Joyce and Manuel, were incredibly knowledgeable about everything about the trails - effort required, weather conditions and time to next meet-up or camp - and the Inca culture, ruins and way of life. They made 13 trekkers an instant team that had an amazing time and probably some lifelong friends along the way.
This experience was surreal. Alpaca Expeditions completely exceeded every expectation. From the moment we booked, their communication was clear, professional, and reassuring. Everything you could thing of from questions to packing lists could be found on their website. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about what they do. We had Manuel and Joice as our guides, who care passionately about their jobs. You can tell they truly care about both the travelers, the mountains and their history. Everything was thoughtfully organized: the pacing, the meals, the equipment, and the attention to safety and comfort were top-notch. The porters and staff were absolutely amazing and deserve so much credit for making the experience as smooth and enjoyable as it was. This wasn’t just a hike it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience filled with stunning views, great energy, unforgettable memories, and meals. We had amazing food for EVERY SINGLE MEAL. Moises was our chef and the meals were delightful. If you’re even remotely considering trekking in Peru, do yourself a favor and book with Alpaca Expeditions. I would 100% choose them again and recommend them to anyone without hesitation.
What an amazing experience!! Surpassed all my expectations! The guides Joyce and Manuel were so caring and knowledgeable - and did everything from teaching us so much about the Inca history to watching over us to make sure we conquered the passes and altitude. The chef Moises prepared meals worthy of any high end restaurant and took care with all our dietary restrictions with separately prepared meals. The porters - led by Cesar- did so much work to make sure we were well cared for. How they all do what they is beyond me - but it made it possible for a weekend hiker to experience all the beauty, history and awe of the Inca trail. I would recommend to ANYONE!! Thank you Alpaca Expedition for an unforgettable trip! I’m sad it is over - but grateful for the memories and friendships made!
The 4 day Inca trail experience exceeded my expectations! The food was crazy good at every meal thanks to chef Moses! Our guides, Joyce and Manuel kept us informed and moving in the right direction. Head porter, Cesar, was amazingly efficient and organized. Our third day was very wet but there was no dip in the phenomenal attitude and morale of our hosts and our group….this was a great adventure!
Had an absolutely fantastic trek with Alpaca Expeditions that’s was expertly guided by Joyce and Manuel and the team of porters led by Cesar and Chef Moises who looked after us so well. The food was some of the best we ate in Peru and everything was planned and arranged perfectly. The tour incredible and I’d recommend it to anyone!
Absolutely amazing group and company, cooks, porters, and guilds where 10/10. Ceaser the head porter is a great leader, I overheard him. The Chef Moises was literally the best cook I have met and had the honor to eat his food. Joyce’s and manuel are incredible guides as well. I would give 6 stars out of 5 if I could. 10 out of 10 experience
Great tour! We did the 2 day, 1 night Inca trail (camping option) plus a visit to the Sacred Valley. The sacred valley portion was a bit touristy but we did enjoy feeding and petting the llamas and alpacas. All of the ruins were amazing. The short Inca trail hike was challenging in places but well worth the effort as it’s the only way to see additional ruins and amazing views. The campsite was secluded with beautiful flowers and delicious food cooked by a local family. Our guide, Sabi, was great and hilarious. He did a wonderful job tailoring the tours to our interests and sharing his knowledge.
Initially anxious about a Macchu Picchu trip (because of language, physicality etc) but was pleasantly impressed how everything went smoothly. From being accommodating to our travel dates, pre-trip info session and all throughout the hike, until we were back to Cusco- just muy bien!! Loved the food that was freshly prepared in the middle of the hike: shoutout to Julio & his team! And loved the info sessions during all our stops: Hola, sra Marcela! 🫶🏼 Get this~~~ The company encourages employing more women in Cusco ✨ and also very important: locally owned. Muchos gracias!
Rodrigo Guty our main guide and Cook / Chef Sebas were absolutely phenomenal. It was a four day trek on the Inca Trail that I will never forget. I was absolutely blown away by the service of all the porters and the leadership of Rodrigo and the cooking by the chef was out of this world. I would highly recommend Alpaca Expedition Tours!! Thomas
Some friends and I did the 2d1n hike with the addition of Huayna Picchu hike. It was an incredible experience. Lucio and Walter were very knowledgeable and we enjoyed having them as our guides. Denato was also our driver from Cusco and back. All together the crew was amazing and we would definitely recommend.
Lucio and Walter were our guides for the 2D/1N trip, Donato was our chef during the hike. Lucio and Walter were amazing guides, very knowledgeable about Incan history and the area, and passionate about what they do. The meal Donato cooked for us was the best we’ve had, and much appreciated after hiking as far as we did. Our visit to Machu Picchu was an amazing experience thanks to them and Alpaca Expeditions.
Ruben Andrade was the best tour guide he was knowledgeable and told us how incredibly spiritual this area is. He had so much excitement and knowledge you couldn’t help it be as excited about our tour. Every question we asked, he knew, he is so knowledgeable and so kind and did a great job of involving all of us.
We had an absolutely fantastic 3D2N Cusco/ Machu Picchu experience with Jamie. His English is excellent, and his knowledge goes far beyond history, he brought the culture, nature, plants, animals, and local life to life in a way that made every moment engaging and memorable. Jamie truly knows everyone along the way: other guides, local residents, and even the dogs we met on the trail, which made the journey feel both seamless and deeply connected to the place. The coordination throughout the trip was outstanding. Train and bus transfers were perfectly organized, timing was always accurate, and everything ran smoothly without stress. We could simply enjoy the experience, knowing we were in great hands. A big thank you as well to Jamie’s drivers, who got us safely and comfortably to every stop, and to Joyce for arranging all the tickets and thoughtfully accommodating our requests. We all had an amazing time, and if any of my friends visit Cusco or the Machu Picchu area in the future, I will absolutely recommend Jamie and the Alpaca Expeditions team without hesitation.
My husband and I took the 4 day/ 3 night tour of Machu Picchu via the Inka Trail in January 2026. The evening before we embarked, we met our fellow trekkers and our guide at the AE office and received detailed information about what to expect, what gear to bring, what gear is provided, and what time to be outside for pickup the following day. It was difficult to not absorb the excitement of our guide, Alex. I was immediately aware of his passion for his job, Peruvian culture, and the safety and enjoyment of his group. We were added to a WhatsApp group so we knew exactly when Alex and our driver arrived at our hotel for pickup. He updated our group on every stop so we weren’t waiting around since it was an early start. Some highlights of the trip that make AE the BEST choice: - First and foremost: our guide Alex is absolutely incredible. He’s been a guide for, I think he said 16 years! I studied biology in college and a little bit of Incan history before the trip, and I was inspired by his patience and confidence in answering all my questions, as well as identifying every plant and bird I asked about— his depth of knowledge allowed me to fully immerse in the experience. We had a small group, so Alex worked double duty as the leader (keeping a great pace for our group) as well the “sweep” (making sure to stop and provide some support if someone fell behind or group morale dropped). He gladly helped us with our gear as needed when something went awry. Alex FAR exceeded our expectations. - The dedicated porters who catered to our every need and clapped for us every time we arrived in camp, even though they carried all our weight. They are all Incan descendants! Such an incredible group of people. - The warm and dry tents even though it poured rain every day - Warm and comfortable sleeping bags with liners. The thermarest mattresses sat atop our foam mats and were set up in our tent every day. - Our team was always the first to arrive at camp each day, so we had the best views and location! We always had time at camp before another group arrived. Felt like a true VIP. - The private, portable toilet since the camp toilets were bad— and I’m a seasoned pit toilet user. Take note ladies: toilet seats are removed in Peru, so you’ll want plenty of toilet paper, wet wipes, and hand sanitizer. Some of the toilets towards the top are squatty potties, so expect just a hole in the ground. Do not go light on your wet wipes and toilet paper! Carry low denomination soles as some toilets cost 1-2 soles per use. - Hot coca tea delivered to our tent every morning - Hot water basins and soap at our tent every evening (wash hands and soak feet— a truly underrated luxury on a multi day trek!) There is so much I can say about the experience, but one thing AE has that the other tour guides don’t is the chef, Gregorio. Words cannot even describe how grateful we all were for his delicious meals— breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even trail snacks! We did not go hungry. Quite the opposite! Hot tea after every hike, followed by hot soup, an incredible Peruvian meal, dessert, and even popcorn! I am a plant-based eater and I was personally handed my plate every meal even though it was family style. This meant so much to me as sometimes my entree becomes someone’s side dish if not identified properly. My meals were equally as delightful as what was served for everyone else— he properly fueled our adventure! Additionally, he literally baked my husband a birthday cake for his 40th! We sang, he blew out his candles, and we enjoyed a mind-bogglingly delicious cake in the alpine! Even for this special dessert, he prepared me a vegan option. Long story short, go with AE. The sheer amount of 5 star reviews speak for themselves. You won’t regret it!
We booked the 4 days and 3 nights Inca Trail with Alpaca, and had a great experience! The whole journey of the hike was incredible with breathtaking views and rich history of Incan sites along way. The final destination of Machu Picchu itself was awesome! Our guide Wilber Ocon was extremely knowledgeable in Inca history and overall an excellent tour guide, making us feel safe and at home on our adventure. The chefs cooked amazing meals every breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while the porters did a great job carrying our luggage and were extremely friendly. This was one of the best tours I’ve ever experienced and would love to come back to do the Salkantay trail with Alpaca Expeditions in the future!
We did the 4day 3 night Sacred Valley, Cusco city, and Machu Picchu tour with David and we are very pleased with our choice. David was, and is, the best. Having an Incan blood line David loves to share his ancestral history and all I can say is we were very fortunate as students of Davids vast knowledge of the Inca people. Thank you to Alpaca Expeditions but most of all thank you to David for being such a great Inca teacher. Wes
Alpaca Expeditions curated an incredible experience for our group! The website was very informative, the communication leading up to the trip helped pack correctly and prepare for the adventure and the experience itself exceeded all expectations. All of the staff were very jovial, they were incredibly supportive, they really appeared to love their job. They sniffed out that I was taking the trip on my 40th birthday and the head chef, Gregorio and sous chef Fernando made incredible meals and also prepared me a birthday cake on my birthday. So, baked a birthday cake in the bush and it was incredible! I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday! The camping spots we had were always the best with incredible views. Our guide, Alex is a true professional in his field. With 17 years experience, he can read a group, anticipate needs and provide in depth knowledge that comes from his passion for the Inka culture. He has an infectious positive attitude and was a pleasure to get to know. The business is local which is the icing on the birthday cake. Go Alpaca Expeditions, hope to see you again in the future!
One of the greatest experiences I’ve had. Alex was my tour guide and he was super helpful and knowledgeable! Couldn’t ask nor want a better guide. Gregorio was our Chef and I couldn’t believe the food he was serving. Everything blew my expectations out of the water. The super porters are absolute beasts hiking up the mountain!
This expedition was truly amazing. It was so well thought out and every aspect was great! Alexander was incredibly knowledgable and knew everything about everything. He was also very well practiced in taking stunning pictures, and kept everything lighthearted with a great sense of humour. The food was amazing - shout out Gregorio and Fernando, the chef and sous chef, who made food far beyond what you would expect on a camping trip, and more generally the whole "super porter" team, who were helpful in making our group's experience unique and memorable. A once in a lifetime trip!!
A truly once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I honestly wouldn’t have wanted to do the Inca Trail with any other company. The hike itself was incredible, and the meal halfway through was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. Eilx and Victor were outstanding guides — friendly, supportive, and incredibly knowledgeable. Their passion for the history and culture really brought the trail to life and made the whole experience even more special.

Hotel to Hotel service
Regarding the transportation provided by Alpaca Expeditions, we are committed to delivering a quality service. We strive to ensure that passengers feel supported throughout their journey. To achieve this, we coordinate closely with our guides and representatives to ensure timely pick-up at the start of their tours. Additionally, we have representatives responsible for escorting our passengers to their hotels at the conclusion of any tour.
Our drivers are not only trained in customer service but also come properly uniformed, and many are fluent in English.
Typically, all transportation types are included in each of our services. For instance, if you have booked a trekking tour, we will pick you up early, typically between 4 AM and 5 AM. When visiting Cusco, it's important to note that traffic here is generally moderate. However, there are peak traffic times, such as between 7 AM and 8 AM, which coincide with school hours, and in the evening between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Therefore, if you have a flight during these times, it's crucial to be at the airport at least 2 hours in advance. The drivers of Alpaca Expeditions ensure their vehicles are prepared with all necessities before each service. They are acutely aware that delays can lead to missed trains, flights, or other connections. Consequently, they are always more than punctual, arriving at least 10 minutes before the scheduled time for any service, understanding the responsibility they carry in executing these tasks.
Personal Porter of 7KG
Remember that Alpaca Expeditions offers an extra 7 kg allowance for your personal belongings on any of our tours. We include a personal porter who is responsible for carrying your duffel bag without any additional fee. You will not have access to your duffel bag until you reach your evening campsite. The bag should not exceed 7 kg, which includes 4 kg for clothes and 3 kg for your sleeping bag and sleeping mat.
When you visit our Alpaca Expeditions office, you will receive your duffel bags at your briefing. The porters will carry them and return them to you at each campsite. The bags measure 66 cm in length and 36 cm in width (approximately 2 ft long by 1 ft wide).
Porters will carry up to 7 kg of your personal items, which must include your sleeping bag and air mat (if you bring or rent one). From us, these two items weigh a combined total of 3.5 kg.
Each Alpaca Expeditions porter is paid directly after each trek, allowing them to return home more quickly. They receive better wages than our competitors, health insurance, and all their equipment free of charge, including hiking boots, pants, jerseys, fleeces, jackets, hats, flashlights, sleeping bags, and high-quality food. We ensure each of our porters has a comfortable bed in a pleasant room to sleep in before and after each trek. We also visit the communities they live in, providing toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, and other necessary supplies to their families, along with books for their children.
This is just the beginning for us, and we are always looking for ways to do more. While the government allows each porter to carry up to 25 kg, we limit this to 20 kg to prioritize their health and safety. Each porter carries up to 15 kg of company equipment and 5 kg of personal items. This is why it is crucial to keep your personal duffel bag weight under our 7 kg limit. You might see other companies allowing their porters to carry more than the allotted weight, but at Alpaca Expeditions, we strictly adhere to these limits to ensure our porters' well-being.
Clases de Cocina
Alpaca Expeditions offers its passengers the chance to experience local cooking. We aim to immerse trekkers in Inca life by walking them through the original Inca paths and teaching them about Inca culture. Food is a significant part of Inca life, making it a special element in any tour or trek with Alpaca Expeditions.
In 2022, Alpaca Expeditions introduced a cooking class as part of each of our treks, conducted by our amazing trekking chefs and interpreted by our guides.
We will transform your dining tent into a makeshift kitchen, providing all the necessary supplies to prepare a Peruvian specialty. Your chef will guide you step by step through the process of making a traditional Peruvian meal, such as Lomo Saltado, and share some essential mountain cooking tips.
Peru is recognized as a top culinary destination, largely thanks to the popularity of our renowned beef dish, Lomo Saltado. This is most often the meal you will learn to cook, but there is also the opportunity to learn how to prepare other dishes like traditional Peruvian ceviche or even our signature drink, the pisco sour.
Cooking Class on the Inca Trail: These classes are voluntary and designed to be a fun, educational experience. Our clients consistently marvel at the amazing ability of our chefs to create culinary magic on a mountaintop. As you learn to prepare and cook Peruvian specialties, you will also see firsthand how such elaborate meals can be created on a small campsite stove.
Enjoy a cooking class in the mountains and be sure to take plenty of photos, just in case your friends won't believe your incredible experience.
Satellite Phones
The best way to hike in the mountains of Peru is to completely disconnect from technology, especially the internet and cell phones. The most impressive and exciting aspect is the opportunity to experience the true and wonderful nature that we often miss when we are at home, watching TV or absorbed in our cell phones during our leisure time. The feeling of being disconnected from work and the daily routine left at home is incredible.
However, this remoteness means limited access to emergency resources. That's why Alpaca Expeditions has invested in satellite phones for every trek.
We are prepared to assist you in case of any emergency, particularly health-related issues. For this reason, Alpaca Expeditions has invested in satellite phones, as they are one of the most crucial tools for any operator trekking in remote areas where telephone or television signals are absent. This means that every guide on our treks will be equipped with a fully charged satellite phone as well as radios. While these are primarily for emergencies, we allow our clients to use them at any time.
We ask that you cover the cost, which is $2.50 per minute. This fee can be paid in cash at our office or via PayPal once you have completed the trek.
Being just a phone call away from any doctor, hospital, or friend helps everyone feel assured of their safety. Radios, which all our guides carry, have limited reach, so Alpaca Expeditions includes satellite phones to ensure that we can connect no matter where we are on the mountain.
Portable private toilet
We understand that our clients will need restroom facilities at various times and locations during their journey. Along the Inca Trail, there are restrooms available, particularly those belonging to the communities near the trail. Alpaca Expeditions provides portable toilets to enhance this service, which will be set up at each meal site or campsite.
As with any mountain trip where we are exposed to nature, it is possible to use natural areas as restrooms. However, it is crucial to be mindful of the waste we generate, such as toilet paper or wet wipes used for cleaning. These should be carried with us and not discarded on the ground or left along the trail. Remember, the Inca Trail is a protected area overseen by a government institution. In places where garbage bins are unavailable, particularly at our camps, we provide special plastic bags for waste. Our porter team will be responsible for carrying out our waste.
Please be aware that although there are designated bathrooms for men and women, in practice, both genders often use the same facilities. Functionally, there is no significant difference between men's and women's bathrooms. Therefore, it is common for people of all genders to use whichever bathroom is available.

Amazing trek!
amazing trip with an amazing team, it was an unforgetable trip! I highly recommend doing this trek once in a lifetime and with alpaca expedition it was perfect!!
Fantastic team for once in a lifetime experience!
This was a once in a lifetime experience! Second day was tough but absolutely amazing! Our guide Rodrigo was great! His local knowledge, traditions and flute playing very fitting
The food our chef Rambo whipped up in the cooking tent was incredible!
Thank you to the whole team, who were so efficient in setting up camp, preparing meals, transporting all our stuff and setting everything up at the end of the day. The thick Alpaca blanket over our sleeping bags and the hot water bottle were very much appreciated on the cold nights in the tent!
Out-Of-This-World! GO VISIT WITH ALPACA EXPEDITIONS!!
A most unforgettable experience! Rolando was Professional, Patient and managed our trekking team with outmost Perfection. 3P‘s hallmark of a world class Trek Leader. I would and have recommended Alpaca Expedition, anytime!
Amazing Time with Juan Miranda!
Juan Miranda was such an incredible help and guide in our short trip to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. His love and respect to Mother Nature was the distinct characteristic that we loved about him. With this, he was very informative and knowledgeable about everything even at the littlest detail as we went along our tour. He was fun, kind, and very helpful. He was able to spark my curiosity about the Incan culture and history which made the experience more meaningful. I would love to come back for more and definitely spend another tour with Juan. 100% recommended!!!
Fun and very informative
Joining rhe tour made our trip very convenient especially with our tour guide Juan Miranda who was very helpful with us. He is not only very knowlegable as a tour guide bur went our of his way by helping us with our luggage and always checks on us. He always priorities our safety and comfort. I am giving him an 5-star review for doing such and amazing job.
A great experience with Alpaca Experience
I had a great experience on this trip. My guides were José Santos and Saul Guerra. They had a lot of knowledge and told us lots of interesting things about the place and culture. I also really loves the food, i had a vegetarian diet and it was the best food i have tastes here in Peru. Thanks to Moses.
A taste of the local culture in the mountains of Peru
My experience with this trail/hike has been amazing. The guides Saúl Guerra and Jose Santos were great at showing us everything there is to know, and you could see they were enthusiastic about the knowledge they shared.
Moises’s team who made food and fixed the camps for us were very nice and efficient. The food was amazing with a lot of variety and local options.
Definitely recommend!!
Lares trek 10/10 experience
Very good experience overall. The staff was really nice. The guides ( Saol G and José Santos) had a lot of knowledge that they shared with the group along the trip. The food was amazing and excelent taste. All of the crew was very helpfull all the time and alot of nice people. 10/10 experience.
Excellent trek
Really good people and guides, who made the trip very memorable. Saul and jose had a lot of knowledge and Maises made excellent food.
Great experiance
We had an amazing experience on the Lares Trek and can highly recommend it. Our guides, Saul G and Jose Santos, were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind. They took great care of the group throughout the trek, sharing insights about the landscape, culture, and history, and always making sure everyone felt safe and supported.
A special thanks to Moises, our cook, who prepared outstanding meals every day. The food was delicious, varied, and far exceeded our expectations—especially considering we were trekking in remote mountain areas.
Everything was well organized, the atmosphere was great, and the entire experience was truly memorable. We would definitely recommend this trek to anyone considering the Lares Trek.
Once in a life time experience
This was amazing! All the tour guides were really really good, like Elix who was the assistant tour guide and I forget the head tour guide’s name. He was really good too! And so was the food, arguably the most important part of the package
Trip of a lifetime
This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. The porters and sherpas made the experience unforgettable and the food was otherworldly . It was an incredibly arduous hike, but I would do it again in a heart beat!
Worth every penny!
Alpaca expeditions is amazing! If you think it's too expensive, think again, because it's worth it! Amazing staff, amazing guides, amazing food, they do everything very professionally and add to the experience of the beauty and wonder of Peru. On time and always in communication, we did the Rainbow Mountain tour with them and were impressed with everything.
Our guide David V was great
Our guide - David Condori Villanueva - was fantastic and incredibly experienced and knowledgeable.. we learnt so much more than without a guide
Amazing experience in Machu Picchu
Unbelievable experience! Highly recommend to get a true appreciation of Machu Picchu and its history. Everything is set up ready for you. Just need to arrive and enjoy the experience
Once in a lifetime trek
We chose the Lares Trek because it best fit our itinerary being three days and two nights before a night in Agua Calientes and Machu Picchu. It was the best decision ever.
It is not hard trekking but it is very high and altitude sickness is real.
March is still rainy but it does mean you beat the crowds. Over our three days we only saw one other group of hikers - briefly. As we hit the summit at 4,800m it felt as if we had the mountains to ourselves. As you descend from the austere high peaks you reach the verdant and green Sacred Valley.
Our guide Pillco was a brilliant steward, ensuring our safety at all times. As were our porters, chef and assistant. How they managed to cook such hearty feasts at altitude remains a mystery.
We loved the opportunity of spending time with the villagers on our second night. And will always remember the Guinea pigs under the bed.
Salkantay trek
This experience was incredible. The staff was amazing, the food was to die for. The sleeping accommodations were so fun and comfortable! The hike was unforgettable. Sergio and Yadire made everything better. If you’re looking for a safe well care for experience this is it!
Unforgetable
Highly recommend traveling with Alpaca Expeditions. The food was great and they made sure to feed us plenty. Our guide, Ivan, was knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed.
Amazing!
It was an incredible, easy, unforgettable experience!!! The guides and porters were amazing and super helpful. The hotel was also good (we did the overnight hike)! Definitely recommend and would do again!
A bucket list dream come true!
This trek was a bucket list dream come true! Alpaca Expeditions made this daunting adventure for two active people but novice backpackers worry-free and so fun! They had everything covered (and carried—the porters are mind-blowing!) from what to pack, to how to pack, to coordinating your hiking permit, hotel pickup/dropoff, to providing your tent, poles, and food. Jhymy and Brandon were funny, kind, and knowledgeable guides—just great people that care a lot about you having an amazing experience. The food was incredible—the quality and quantity of food prepared and served at every meal was amazing, especially given that the ingredients and food prepared supplies are lugged up mountains and all of its prepared on camp stoves—the chef even made us a CAKE cooked over a camp stove on our last night to celebrate! The most shocking and relieving part of the trek was that all of the campsites have flushable toilets—I was planning for bushes so this was a very pleasant surprise. It’s a trip you will never forget with amazing people from all across the world that will become your family pulled off by some of the most hardworking people I’ve ever met. (Oh something I thought I’d need but didn’t was a book—the itinerary explains you’ll eat dinner relatively early leaving a lot of the night unaccounted for so I thought I’d need something to pass the time at night…nope! After dinner, even if it’s only 7:30 or 8, you’ll be exhausted. Also, the day starts early around 4-5am so trust me you won’t be bored at night looking for something to do—sleep came easily to me and my husband)
Salkantay MachuPichu trek.
Excellent experience. Great, personable guides. Well organized. Good equipment and good food. Logistics at each end of the trek were well done.
In the Eye of the Inca, Peru
Excellent experience, I recommend the agency and the package, which was In The Eyes of an Inca 8 days. The staff and drivers were very professional. All events and activities were on time. They pick us up from the hotel. The hotels were good. The food was good
The guides were excellent.
We had excellent guides. They were very knowledgeable about the area and explained everything about the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu which added to our understanding of the area. We highly recommend it to anybody who hasn’t been there.
One of the best experiences of my life!
We had the most amazing trip to Machu Picchu -- a dream and a long-held goal of mine to complete the hike before I turned 40 in 2025. I've travelled quite a bit, but this one was on my bucket list, though I was initially nervous that I would slow other hikers down and be a burden for our guide. Thankfully, our guide, Manuel, was amiable, patient and kind. I never felt guilty for when I needed to stop for short breaks. He was also incredibly knowledgable about the local flora, fauna, history and anthropology, telling us the names of plants and birds, sharing facts about their context within the local ecology, and educating us about the Incan people; how they lived their daily lives and the history of their empire. Manuel conveyed this information in a thoughtful way, however, we never felt like we were being lectured. He would share facts and anecdotes and then go into deeper detail when we asked questions and wanted to know more. Manuel was great about knowing the ideal spots to take pictures, and even took the best short cinematic video with a dramatic reveal of my husband and I standing above the panorama of the ruins. I shared that image with family and friends back home and everyone was blown away! Overall, hiking with Manuel felt like we were making the trip with a knowledgeable friend we had known for years.
The length of the trip was perfect for us, as we paired this hike with the Lares Trek to get the best of both worlds of mountain scenery and seeing the Incan ruins - the price for both of these trips was an excellent value, especially considering it included our guides, porters, gear, a superb chef, and other thoughtful amenities to make it a quite comfortable camping trip.
Great stay!
We had Angel as our host. The trip was fantastic and Angel came with a lot of good knowledge along the way. We really liked the trip with Alpaca and had a fantastic lunch along the way. We would recommend the trip to everyone else.
Leg inca trail do not hesitate with alpaca expeditions
Alpaca expeditions exceeded all my expectations, doing the Inca trail with them was spectacular. Our Guides Saul Guerra and Humberto Tupananchiskaman were great leaders, created an amazing atmosphere, explained everything super well and adapted to the group in a very easy way.
Super good food from chef Germán and amazing porters from Alex.
Inca trail with Luz <3
We had an incredible and unforgettable experience on the Inca trail, thanks to our guide Luz. In addition to being incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and helpful (she was a lifesaver when I felt nauseous, and brought me back to life with agua florida — an herbal remedy), she was also kind, down to earth, and had such a great sense of humor. Her passion for winayhuayna (orchids) was infectious. It was so special to see all the an ancient ruins, too. The challenging trek, the new friendship, and the breathtaking, mystical scenery made for an experience both intimate and expansive. Oh! And Julio’s meal on the mountaintop was delicious. This trek is great if you want to pack a lot of action and education into a couple days. We also enjoyed relaxing (and cleaning up) at Inkaterra in town, following the hike night. What are you waiting for?! Book a trip with Luz. It’s truly life altering.
Luz made our trip amazing!
Luz was an amazing guide on our hike of the Inca Trail. She helped with everything and my wife and I could not imagine doing it without her! On our bus ride to the train she helped my wife overcome her nausea with medicinal agua florida. She helped us get on the train easily and knows so much history about everything. She was an amazing guide on the hike itself, taking photos and providing us with all her knowledge. She made us feel safe and excited. Most importantly, we enjoyed getting to know Luz and are happy to now call her a friend!
YOU HAVE TO DO IT!!!!!
If you’re going to do this hike or any of them, if you can spend a few days in Cusco before your hike this would be very helpful to your body. First off the food!!!!!! OMG you will not go hungry at all trust me on this, the whole experience was absolutely amazing, food the service the views, the entire experience was breathtaking and beautiful, photos that I got where amazing, I done the 7 day 6 nights then rest day then went and done rainbow mountain!!!!! The full experience and service from alpaca was nothing short then amazing, professional and outstanding
Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour
We had Jamie Vasquez for the Sacred Valley portion and David Condori Villanueva for the Machu Picchu tour. Both were great; so knowledgeable, tons of information about the local animals and vegetation in addition to the history of the historic sites, and kept it interesting. We wouldn’t have learned a quarter of the information if we hadn’t done the tour - highly recommend!
I cannot recommend David and Alpaca Expeditions enough!
David Condori Villanueva and Alpaca Expeditions provided an incredible experience to us! From the first step, David truly provides an unmatched experience to his tour by bestowing a plethora of information about the Inca people, and answering any questions you may have. I cannot recommend David and Alpaca Expeditions enough!
Highly Recommend!!!
My partner and I had the most amazing time on our 2 day Sacred Valley + Machu Picchu trip with Alpaca Expeditions! Our guide David Condori Villanueva was incredibly knowledgeable and went above and beyond to ensure that we had the perfect experience! I would highly recommend this tour and company to anyone visiting Cusco!
Great experience
We were meant to do the Inca trail but unfortunately due to weather it was closed. However, the Alpaca expedition team was fantastic in helping us find an alternative.
The guides, Alvin & Humberto were amazing, and the trip was well organized and well planned. While perhaps more expensive than some of the other options, it was clear that the money went to good places, with the whole team clearly treated well and respected. I would recommend them to any one looking for a high quality tour.
The trek itself was a moderately challenging and stunningly bountiful. Pack sturdy hiking shoes and good waterproofs.
To say the food was being served on the top of a mountain, it was excellent, and all the provided equipment was good quality.
Thank you to the whole team for showing us a small piece of your stunning country.
Alpaca Expeditions the best!!
"Unforgettable experience! 📸 I did the 4d/3n Inca Trail with Alpaca Expeditions and I'm still on cloud nine. From day one, their team made sure everything was perfect. Chef, The food was amazing, the scenery was out of this world, and our guides Rolando and Efrain were absolutely incredible - so dedicated, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the history and culture of the Inca Trail. They made the experience truly unforgettable. I can't recommend Alpaca Expeditions enough! If you're thinking of doing the Inca Trail, they're the way to go. Thanks for the memories, Rolando and Efrain! Can’t wait for my next adventure with Alpaca Expeditions!
Great trip - would recommend
Great trip with our family (8 adults). Walter was a knowledgeable guide. The lunch was delicious - best lomo saltado I had the whole trip. Shorter trip was still strenuous and was a good fit for our family (didn't have time for the 5 day).
Amazing Alpaca
The most amazing experience with the Alpaca crew! Joyce, Abraham and the whole Alpaca porter and chef team were brilliant. We had an amazing time exploring the Inca trail and were fully supported by the team, including when an injury made it difficult to continue! Would highly recommend Alpaca for an unforgettable trip
We did a two day, one night short hike to Machu Piccu with Walter and Daniel. It was the highlight of our entire trip!
Walter and Daniel took my family of 3 (16 year old) on a 2 day, 1 night hike to Machu Picchu. It was, by far our best two days of the trip. Walter and Daniel did an amazing job keeping the group engaged with their vast knowledge of ancient Peru and applications to current events. I highly recommend asking for them by name.
Staff really made the experience
I have never hiked for more than 2 days before and the 5D/4N option felt really appropriate with non stop views that I could enjoy, I would reccomend this for those with only some hiking experience. The food was much better than expected, it was restaurant quality with very generous portions. The porters were incredibly effecient and helpful. My guide Manuel was very well informed on several topics relevant to the trek.
Once in a lifetime experience with a fantastic company
Fabulous from start to finish
We did the 5day 4 night whole Inca trail with alpaca expeditions as a family of adults and it was brilliant.
A PERU MUST!!!
This was the best experience EVER!!!!! Truly once in a life time to hike the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. They provided smooth transportation & communication. Angel was our guide and he is the best! So informative, encouraging, knowledgeable, and happy to share about the Inca culture. Donato, the chef who prepared lunch did amazing abiding to food restrictions of being gluten free. Eating lunch on the mountain was so wholesome! This trek would not have been the same without our guide Angel. He pushed us to limits we did not know we could surpass!! A great addition is Wayna Picchu!! Thank you Alpaca expeditions!
We loved our experience. Totally worth it. Our guide Angel was amazing and we had such a good time. Everything was well
Experience was one in a lifetime!
Great Trip!

W trip
It’s good experience, the chef Carmelo is amazing chef and Mario is amazing dub chef. Jose is good leader. Porter Pablo is responsible and kind. And lastly, loved my guide Jimmy, literally saved me from falling off the cliff on the way to Machu Picchu🤣🤣🤣
Magical experience hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
Absolutely incredible experience hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with Alpaca Expeditions!! The hardworking porters and wonderful chefs took excellent care of us and made the experience an absolute pleasure. Special thanks go out to our talented chef Carmelo, sous-chef Mario, and Team lead Jose, Porter Pablo and the entire Porter team... and of course our absolutely amazing guide Jimmy. They took care of our every need and ensured we all had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend Alpaca Expeditions. Magical experience. 5 out of 5 stars!!
Great adventure
Jimmy is the bomb. So fun. Wild adventure. Made great friends, will never forget this trip! The journey is the adventure.
Once in a lifetime experience
My experience on this trip was amazing. The route is absolutely gorgeous and it is a great option if you can’t do the 5 day Inca trail. I came during the rainy season and even with the rain it was very special. My guide Luz Marina made the experience particularly special since she shared all her knowledge with a lot of passion and care. It was really nice to get all my questions answered, at the same time that it was really nice to have the trip with a female guide. As a solo traveler it made me feel really safe and comfortable. Luz Marina built a very fun environment as well and that made the trip even more enjoyable. She also explained a lot of information about the fauna in the mountains which was particularly interesting for me.
Another special part of the trip was the lunch we had on the first day. The cooks are absolutely amazing, the food is made with so much care and it is so tasty.
I cannot recommend this experience enough, it’s been one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had.
I love alpaca
I’m love the Inka trail. It’s amazing and wonderful. You must choose Ivan guide. Because he is very handsome and taking care of the team members.
Alpaca’s 2D/1N Trek: The Best Way to Optimize Your Machu Picchu Experience
The 2D/1N Inca trek is the perfect excursion for anyone trying to maximize their time in Cusco while still having the full Machu Picchu hiking experience.
We were a bit nervous going in December because of the forecasted rain, but we realized that most days were actually very nice and sunny (just some light daytime sprinkling and rain at night). As an unexpected bonus of going during the low season, we ended up having a private group!
Our guide, Manuel, was fantastic — friendly, funny, informative, encouraging, and helpful. He carried my mom’s daypack for the bulk of our trek, which was very kind. Most importantly, he never rushed us. I came on this trip with the goal of taking as many photos of as many sites in as many angles as possible, and Manuel amiably obliged each time I whipped out my camera.
The chefs are amazing — we noticed all the other hikers eating sad bagged lunches while we were treated to a delicious feast in the mountains. Everyone eyed our freshly prepared multi-course meal with envy. It felt great.
The 2D/1N includes the MP circuit 1 on the first day (this is the stunning Sun Gate and upper terrace views with alpacas), plus circuit 3 on the second day (this is the more interactive historic tour of the citadel). We added on the Huayna Picchu summit, which is done on the second day. It is steep but manageably short and oh-so beautiful.
If you ~really~ want to experience the great Peruvian outdoors, opt for the overnight camping. However, keep in mind that you’re ending a long, sticky day with a long, sticky evening. While there is a lukewarm shower available, you can’t wash away that oppressive blanket of humidity. We also had the joy of listening to roosters crowing, mosquitos whining, and dogs fighting all night long (thank god Manuel provided earplugs). Needless to say, if I could do it over again, I’d go for the hotel.
All in all, as the type A planner of our group, I can say with certainty that I would 100% recommend Alpaca Tours. MP is a particularly complicated trip if you’re trying to book it all yourself, but Alpaca Tours removes all the stress in organizing and optimizing all the pick-ups/drop-offs/tickets/food/anything you might forget but need.
Once in a lifetime experience
Had an amazing time doing the Inca trail with alpaca expeditions. Was very nice to know that it’s a local company that is run by people from the mountains and are so welcoming in showing you the unreal experience. Our guide Javier was amazing and would always go into such detail about the Inca sites we visited and trails we walked on. He would explain everything with no questions for us to answer. Also when walking on the trail he would make sure you’re all right and fit to continue. In terms of being a tour guide there is no more you can ask for. The food for breakfast, lunch and dinner was exceptional all thanks to Virginio the cook. I can’t emphasise how organic and tasty the food was and how it hit the spot after a long day of trekking. This review could go on and on but I would like to finish off with saying the whole team including the porters was spectacular and would love to do it all over again .
Macchu Picchu Hike
This 4 day experience blew my expectations away. Every step taken I could look in any direction and have the most beautiful view. Our tour guide Javier was so much fun and such a kind and friendly person. He gave us so much freedom to explore ourselves while also ensuring he gave us all the important information about the sites and inca civilisation more generally. Food wise - I went into this tour expecting to be hungry, but at every meal time Virginio our chef had a massive delicious meal prepared on the table. I couldn’t recommend Alpaca any more.
Exceptional Service & Quality
Our group had a fantastic time on our Inka trail hike. The service was excellent with our tour guide Javier giving countless in-depth details at every opportunity and ensuring the entirety of the trip ran smoothly. The food from our chef Virginio was also fantastic, we had everything from pasta to ceviche to saltado. Overall, I would highly recommend the tour to everyone, particularly because it’s a local company with passionate staff.
Choose Alpaca Expeditions 4D/3N hike
Our experience was great. Javier was an awesome guide with great knowledge. Our group was really happy with Javier as our guide, we couldn’t have asked for a better one. The cook Virginio was really really good, the food was incredible at every meal.
Review on my time in Machu peechu.
Javier A and his team were nothing short of perfect. Have done tours all over the world and can safely say this was the most accomodating and welcoming group of people I have come across. Aswell as that the service was absolutely amazing, if there is any way I can personally mention Javier and his team I would. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family back home.
Virginio cooked the best food I have eaten during my time in South America, absolutely superb.
Really going to miss this.
Best experience of my life
The best experience of my life. The staff at Alpaca Expeditions were incredible. Our guides always made sure we were safe and well. The food and supplies they provided were great. I highly recommend this agency for expeditions!
Wonderful family experience on the Lares Trek!
Our family had a wonderful time on the Lares Trek with our guide Rodrigo and the rest of our Alpaca team! We met with Rodrigo the night before our trek to go over a high level overview of our time together and to have any last minute questions answered.
We met early the next time morning and we were off on our adventure! We had a good first day hiking and met up with the rest of the crew at our campsite, which was already set up. Rain was no surprise because we were there in the rainy season, so it was nice to have a communal tent for meals and to gather. Day 2 was some challenging hiking! Our kids were more than capable, but we had to take breaks to catch out breath many times! We started out at beautiful lake and then made our way up...and up. We had some crazy weather - hail! - at the top, but also got to see a herd of alpacas run by so we wouldn't change it! We enjoyed that afternoon visiting a local family and seeing the traditional way of life. Our last day was our descent with beautiful views. We had a small ceremony with coca leaves to show our appreciation for our experience and time on this beautiful hike.
We packed using Alpaca's list and had everything we needed for the 3 days.
On our last day we went to Machu Picchu with Rodrigo as our guide. He was very patient - we had to wait about an hour an half for the clouds to move enough to have a nice view! Rodrigo had lots of good information to share and we walked away truly appreciating the site and our days together.
We unfortunately had an extreme delay at the train station, and while Rodrigo was not technically still 'on the clock' he was extemely helpful during this time.
Machu Picchu Inca Trail Hike
Javi and Jose were fantastic tour guides and really made the experience. The food cooked by Willbur was sensational. Couldn’t recommend Alpaca expeditions Enough
Memorable hike with Jose and Javier
Unreal experience lead by Javier and Jose. They lead us to the best spots on the trail, as well delicious 3 course Peruvian food cooked by Wilbert.
Would highly recommend this company for many laughs, an enjoyable walk and a very memorable 4 days.
Amazing trek and company
Amazing trip, our guides Javi and Jose made the trip even better for us! Lovely food from Willbert every day and the porters were great! A must do in Peru !! 5 ⭐️
Best Solo Hiking Experience
One of the best solo experiences I’ve had. Jose and Javi were two amazing tour guides who provided a knowledgeable yet fun experience. Food was top tier. Accommodations were top tier. The company, itself was just grand. I would highly recommend this company for anyone either solo traveling or not. Jose and Javi really took the time to get to know every one of us on this trip over the course of four days.
Great experience
Unbelievable experience, tour guides were very good at their job, would definitely recommend javi and alpaca expeditions to anyone that wants to do the hike up to Machu Picchu.
Great experience
Second trek with the company and the quality is just as good as the last time. The guided Javi and Jose were great and very knowledgeable. They were very accommodating all throughout. Everything was thought of and accounted for.
Fantastic trip!
We would highly recommend this tour. We did the 2 day Sacred Valley Machu Picchu combo. All the locations were beautiful. Our Tour guide Santiago was very well knowledgeable, organized and made sure everything went as per plan. Our trip was very memorable and thank Alpaca expeditions for their perfect planning and help.
The BEST option for Machu Picchu!
My husband and I took the 4 day/ 3 night tour in January 2026.
Some highlights of the trip that make AE the BEST choice:
- First and foremost: our guide Alex is absolutely incredible.
- The warm and dry tents even though it poured rain every day
- Warm and comfortable sleeping bags with liners.
- Hot coca tea delivered to our tent every morning
- Hot water basins and soap at our tent every evening (wash hands and soak feet— a truly underrated luxury on a multi day trek!)
There is so much I can say about the experience, but one thing AE has that the other tour guides don’t is the chef, Gregorio.
The trip of a lifetime!
An amazing adventure lead by Fletcher and Valentine, our expert guides.
Truly worth the effort and only achievable with the porters who made it all possible, together with the fantastic Chefs who produced gourmet food in the wilderness.
Our Machu Picchu Adventure Hike!
My husband Erik and I have just completed the Classic Inca Trail 4 day/ 3 Night Hike. It was brutal but so worth it! Our guid Ivan, and ALL the porters and the chef were AMAZING! We went with the company called Alpaca Expeditions and they are an all local organization that are the best! My husband and I were struggling a bit along the way and Ivan and the porters were there with us helping when we needed it. This particular hike is not for anybody for sure, but with PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) as our guide Ivan would say, it can be done. This is a once in a life time adventure that Erik and I have decided to do for many reasons. We almost gave up and our guide Ivan was supportive and willing to make arrangements if we were not able to complete the hike, but we managed to finish it with his awareness support. Thank you Ivan for what you do!!
Great experience on the Inca trail
It was a long day and a strenuous hike. But v well planned by Alpaca and our guide Ismael, who was v well-informed and considerate. Ismael knew a lot of history and also all the best spots for pics! He also did his best to accommodate us when we requested a change in plan. The lunch cooked by the Alpaca chef was excellent!
Excellent trip on my 40th birthday with my wife!
With 17 years experience, he can read a group, anticipate needs and provide in depth knowledge that comes from his passion for the Inka
culture. He has an infectious positive attitude and was a pleasure to get to know.
The business is local which is the icing on the birthday cake.
Go Alpaca Expeditions, hope to see you again in the future!
10/10 recommend
Alex was my guide and he was absolutely amazing! Super knowledgeable and helpful. Gregorio was the chef and he knocked it out of the park. Everything blew my expectations out of the water!
So awesome!
We had such an amazing tour with Alpaca Expeditions. Our tour guide Alex led us through a paradise, with so much information and friendly support. He told us many stories about the Incas, about their origins and what ultimately happened to them, as well as folklore. His english was fantastic and we loved his sense of humour. He was very open about his life and was really lovely to get to know him. By the end we were all so close, and we feel so grateful to have met the local people as well as the other travellers. Gregario and Fernando our chef and sous-chef produced some incredible food, you are left wondering how they managed to do this with their equipment! The luxuries of starting the day with a coca tea brought to your tent and all of the other things the porters did was fantastic.
Fantastic trip!
I did a four day trek with Alpaca Expeditions and came away from it wishing it hadn't ended! Our tour guide, Alex, was fantastic! He broke up the days so each walking section wasn't too arduous (especially the steep sections), always made sure we were well and seemed to have extensive knowledge about everything from local legends on orchids, to differing opinions on Inca history, which can be illusive. The scenery was absolutely stunning throughout and the porters and chefs were tireless in making sure our trip was as comfortable as possible. The company also has a reputation for hiring locally and looking after their staff which, it was clear, they did well. Overall, a highly recommended trip!
A once in a lifetime trip with an incredible guide (Alexander), unique views and amazing food
This expedition was truly amazing. It was so well thought out and every aspect was great!
Alexander was incredibly knowledgable and knew everything about everything. He was also very well practiced in taking stunning pictures, and kept everything lighthearted with a great sense of humour
The food was amazing - shout out Gregorio and Fernando, the chef and sous chef, who made food far beyond what you would expect on a camping trip, and more generally the whole “super porter” team, who were helpful in making our group’s experience unique and memorable.
A once in a lifetime trip!!
Beautiful experience with great people!
First time in Peru and traveling with my husband — we were assigned to Luz’s group and could not be more thankful. She was incredible: knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely kind. She even took great care of us when we experienced altitude sickness. I highly recommend the 2-day Inka Trail or any trek through this organization. The experience surpassed our expectations!
Great experience
Great experience start to finish. Pickup was always on time, guide (Juan Miranda) was very knowledgeable in the history of the ruins and promptly addressed any concerns. Everything was done very professionally.
Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu 4day tour
We did the 4 day tour with David. He was the best at making us comfortable in a foreign country. The people of Peru were genuinely very nice and David lived up to and even surpassed our expectation. We would recommend Alpaca Expeditions to everyone and when given the opportunity we will recommend David.
Amazing Experience - Sole was an Excellent Tour Guide definitely choose Alpaca Expeditions
I Booked a 2D/1N Short Inca Trek to Macchu Picchu with Alpaca Expeditions , which was Based on its Excellent Reviews .
But this Company Surpassed All my Expectations and More.
Their Professionalism- Organisation- Attention to detail and the Fact Nothing was too much trouble . All of the Team from Admin - Drivers- Chefs - Tour Guide were Fantastic-
Booking such a Bucket List for my Daughters 30 th Birthday I was Apprehensive Booking in the UK not knowing if the Trip would meet my Requirements,But they Exceeded Any of my worries.
A Huge Personal Thanks to SOLE Our Tour Guide who was Amazing - Her Organisation- Professionalism - Information on the History of Macchu Pichua made the Trip so enjoyable . Inca trail - awesome!
I loved the experience with aplaca! We go really bad weather but they made the trip awesome and they were ready for everything we needed!! Saul and victor were the best! I’d recommend them and I’ll probably go back
10/10 experience
Such an amazing experience I highly recommend. Soledad was so kind and knowledgeable and took really great care of us! Also the food was amazing, best food I’ve had in Peru!
Great Tourism Company
We had the tour of Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu with Alpaca Expeditions. We had an exceptional tour guide, experienced and passionate about history, also very charismatic and with people's skills. I wish he were with us everywhere we'll go in Peru.👍The company is very well organized!
Great guides; poor administrators
First all - the guides are amazing and super helpful so this review is not aimed at them.
Unfortunately the whole trip in Cusco was tainted by one of the coordinators (Sharon) who was incredibly rude, unresponsive, and unhelpful throughout the entire trip. We asked for Sharon’s help in planning 7 days in Peru and it was the most hectic planned trip with no clear instructions (e.g. we had to check in twice in the office and were blamed for not knowing this even though it was mentioned nowhere in our emails or itinerary). Every time we asked Sharon for clarity on what was next on our itinerary, it took her at least 24 hours to respond and done in a very hostile way, even when our guides did their very best to get in touch with Sharon and try to get answers from her. One of the Alpaca Expedition guides (Sole) was very emphatic to our situation and spent many hours trying to make sure we could get our situation corrected.
I’m really sorry for the one star review - if not for Sharon’s planning, hostility, and unresponsiveness, this really would have been a much better trip.
In the end, my friend and I wish we did all the planning ourselves instead of going through the Alpaca Expeditions given how much headache and stress they have caused us during our vacation.
Inca Trail
We had an incredible experience on our 3-night, 4-day trek with Alpaca Expeditions. It’s definitely challenging, but is so worth it.
Our guides, JCH and Yadira, were outstanding. They brought great energy to the group and shared an impressive amount of knowledge as they led us through various ruins and historic sites. They kept our spirits high during the long hiking days and truly felt like part of our team. Their photography skills were amazing!
The porters were absolutely amazing—carrying all the camp equipment and somehow arriving ahead of us every time to make sure our meals and tents were ready upon arrival. Our chef, Gregorio, was exceptional. The food was delicious, plentiful, and far beyond what we expected on a trek.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, and I can’t recommend Alpaca Expeditions enough for anyone planning a trek. Thank you for an unforgettable journey!
Inca Trail - great adventure
Our Inca Trail experience was absolutely unforgettable thanks to the amazing team behind it. A huge thank you to Julian, the head of porters, whose leadership and positive energy kept everything running smoothly every day. Special appreciation also goes to Julian, our chef — the meals he prepared in such challenging conditions were simply outstanding. And of course, Jimmy and Abraham, our guides, made the journey even more special with their knowledge, passion, and great sense of humor. This team truly turned a trek into a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
The best way to experience Machu Picchu!
Our tour with Alpaca Expeditions was the highlight of our trip to South America! Our guide Sole was so knowledgeable, patient and fun, we were sad to leave her! The food cooked by Ciriaco was plentiful, inventive and delicious, we were looking forward to every meal and Antero was amazing in carrying all our gear and preparing meals and camp always with a smile. We highly recommend doing the 2D/1N short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu it is an unforgettable experience!
Wonderful trip
We had a great trip with Alpaca with Sole as our guide. She was a great host and took care us of so well. Highly recommended tour which really shows the best of the Machu Pichu experience.
Credits also to the chef, Ciriaco who made us amazing food and Antero who supported us as well.
Inca trail hike
Jhymy and his team were amazing! Id highly recommended them for your trip! The food was amazing, the porter were very hard workers and the tour guide gave great information about the trek
Amazing 5 day Inca trail hike
We had an incredible experience on the 5-day Inca Trail hike with Alpaca. One of the biggest advantages of the 5-day trek is the slower pace, which is especially welcome given the challenging terrain. It also allows time to explore stunning Inca ruins that many other groups have to hurry past.
Rolando, our head guide, was outstanding—his depth of knowledge ranged from Inca history and astronomy to local flora and fauna, and his English was excellent. Wilbur, our second guide, was equally wonderful: kind, attentive, and always going the extra mile, from bringing us tea in the mornings to offering steady support on the trail.
Arriving at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate was a truly unforgettable moment. Alpaca is a locally run, community-driven organization that clearly takes great care of its staff. Their level of organization throughout the entire trip was exceptional, and it was obvious that their team was the best equipped of anyone we encountered—top-quality clothing, boots, gear, tents, and bags.
Go Green Machine—Haku Haku! And special recognition goes to Raul, our chef, who prepared truly remarkable meals throughout the 4-night, 5-day journey.
Salkantay adventure
A once in a lifetime opportunity to trek along and up the Salkantay pass. The views are more than amazing and photos don't do it justice so you'll have to do it for yourself.
The chef Alejandro was great, I'm lactose intolerant and got a separate dairy free plate of any food that had dairy in it.
Cesar and Meliton the guides were fantastic as well. Funny dudes and monsters on the trek with how easily they do it.
The trek itself is difficult if you aren't used to the altitude. Id suggest at least 5 days to acclimate to the height, do some day hikes around Cusco to help get used to it. I'm a relatively fit 38 year old dude, but the altitude that rocked me on the first day. The good news is if you can get through the first day you'll be fine. I suggest bringing a bunch of snacks to help keep the energy up along the way.
The group I was with were all of a similar age range and we got along really well, which is a huge plus.
If you're considering it, do it, but be prepared to walk a ton of KMs up and down the Peruvian mountainside.
Great Experience - recommended
We wanted to visit Machu Picchu but wanted an experience with extra features and the Salkantay delivered. The highlights outside of the obvious were the coffee experience and the genuine variety and tastiness of the food, we were expecting a widely acceptable (therefore bland) food offering but it was genuinely excellent.
Alejandro the chef as well as Luiz and Oscar were excellent.
Cesar led the trip very well and was ably assisted by Meliton. Lifetime goal ticked off and a great group to share the experience with. Thank you Alpaca Expeditions, 100% recommend.
Salkantay Trek
This trek was awesome!
The scenery is absolutely stunning and the hike is super rewarding.
The hike isn't easy, especially with the high altitude. You definitely need to acclimate for a few days prior at a minimum. A good pair of hiking boots is a must!
Salkantay Trek with Alpaca
Really pleasant experience. Exceeded expectations. Caesar was a tremendous guide who gave a lot great history lessons throughout the 5 days. He and Meliton were always in a positive spirit and made the trip more enjoyable. The food was better than anticipated as well. The chefs made some very creative meals using local ingredients. It was a good experience and would recommend with this company.
Trek of a lifetime!
Cesar, Meliton & the rest of the Alpaca team were the best! They made our trek one of the best experiences by being so organized, friendly, and encouraging. It was so nice to not have to worry about anything even the hiking itself, and I always felt like I was in very capable hands. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!!!
AMAZING Experience
One of the best experiences I’ve ever had! Caesar, Meliton and the rest of the Green Team were so friendly, well-organized, and hardworking. The chef was amazing and was so accommodating to dietary restrictions. Thank you all so much!!!
Great trip
Our whole team was amazing! Ceasar and Meliton were great guides and helped make sure we had fun and got places safely. Alejandro our cook made delicious food. Would recommend highly!!
Awesome Inca Trail Experience
We had the best time on the Inca Trail with the Alpaca experience team! Jhymy and Abram were our guides and they were exceptional throughout. The food was amazing thanks to our chef, Julian, and we were so impressed by the porter team headed by Julian. All together they made this trip an unforgettable one!
Unique experience!
The tour guides Jhymy and Abramcha provide an amazing service, very knowledgeable about the region and friendly. Julian the chef cooked some food I didn’t expect possible in the mountains with limited tools: absolutely every meal was delicious! Also, the porters are some of the nicest people and very hard working people.
One of the best experiences of my life!
Amazing trip seeing all the great scenery and Inca buildings. Alpaca Expeditions were a great provider supporting local people and made our experience very comfortable. The food was amazing cooked by German (I was vegan which was catered for). Alexander and Edwin were the best tour guides - so knowledgeable and allowed you to do things at their own pace. I particularly liked meeting all the porters and learning about their lives. Couldn’t recommend enough!
Awesome, magic! Well organized all along. Alex was the best , well educated, knowledgeable and passionate!
Would recommend without a doubt to anyone that wants to go to hike the Machu Picchu. I did the trail 30 years ago and to go back with my son was magical.
The perfect overview of Incas in Peru
This trip was nothing short of incredible! We got the best guide, David Condori! He was so personable, engaging, and funny. Plus he took some amazing photos! Originally we had signed up for the short inca trail hike, but had to change last minute due to some unforseen medical issues. The team at Alpaca Expeditions had no problem switching us over to David's group for the Sacred Valley portion and our original guide for Machu Picchu. The only hiccup was at Machu Picchu when we didn't have the tickets we needed to get in. I guess there was a miscommunication between the guides, but it was quickly fixed and we were inside the Citadel in no time. The other guide we had inside Machu Picchu (I didnt get his name), wasn't nearly as engaging as David and we spent nearly an hour and a half standing in one spot listening to him lecture. Thats a long time when you're itching to explore more of the beautiful Machu Picchu! Overall, this was an amazing tour and they smoothly handled any bumps we had. I definitely reccomend taking this tour with David Condori Villanueva if you can!
This is your sign to travel to Machu Picchu and hike the IncaTrail!
Wow! What an experience! Our first time in Peru and this tour had it all. Adventure, hiking, culture, food, history, education and all the colours of Peru. Our tour guide was Luz Marina who was super knowledgeable with everything to do with her ancestors. We definitely recommend Alpaca Expeditions compared to any other companies (the food was INSANE on the hike and we also tried Guinea Pig!!!)
Amazing experience with Angel
We had an amazing 2 day trip, hosted by the fantastic Angel as our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly and made our trip relaxed and comfortable. I would highly recommend Angel and Alpaca as a tour company.
4 Day Inca Trail Hike
I completed the trail with three friends, and this was the first time any of us had attempted a hike of this length or difficulty. The tour guides were exceptional, providing an experience that was both educational and enjoyable. They made sure everyone in the group was comfortable, allowed us to move at our own pace, and ensured we were well taken care of throughout the journey.
The food prepared by the company exceeded my expectations, with fresh, delicious meals at every sitting. It provided the energy needed for the hike and allowed us to fully enjoy our time together. The porters were also outstanding and played a huge role in making the experience much easier and more enjoyable. Overall, the support from the company significantly reduced the difficulty of the hike and made it a truly memorable experience.
