Safety on the Trail Satellite Phone

  • Edema pulmonar y edema cerebral
  • Ataque al corazón
  • Asma
  • Hipotermia
  • Mordeduras y picaduras de insectos
  • Vértigo
  • Quemaduras de sol
  • Alergia
  • Cualquier dolor que pueda experimentar

Perfect!

Truly fantastic experience!
Our guide David was excellent: knowledgeable, helpful, and always attentive to our needs.
The organization was impeccable, with great precision and punctuality, even despite some changes to the schedule during the tour, but above all despite incessant rain.

Everything was handled professionally and without any problems. Highly recommended!

Thank you for an unforgettable experience

If I could give Reuben 100 stars I would!!!! I can’t recommend him specifically and Alpaca Expeditions enough! He took my fiance and I from the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu and explained everything along the way. His charismatic nature, expansive knowledge and passion about the history of the Inka and Peru is evident from the moment you meet him, making it feel like a friend is guiding you on your journey and at the end of our trip we truly were friends! You cannot do better than Reuben and Alpaca Expeditions!!

Top of the List Experience

We did the 2 day Inca Trail hike – our guide Sabi was amazing! Absolutely stunning experience. Very much worth the effort. Mother Nature did not cooperate on day 1, but it was still well worth it! Day 2 was Machu Picchu and a hike to the top of Huayna Picchu mountain. More amazing than you can imagine! Sabi accommodated everyone in our group and took very good care of us. He told so much history and was very educational.

Absolute must do!

Sabino our tour guide was extremely helpful and shared so much useful and interesting information. He carried my sister’s day pack for the whole first day of the trail when she wasn’t feeling well and supplied her with medications and natural remedies to make her feel better. He let my family and I do the trail at our own pace, making sure we stopped when we needed to rest and rehydrate. Sabi also knew all of the great photo op spots and was an excellent photographer for us. We had so much fun and would recommend!!!

We had a wonderful time with Juan visiting the Inca sites in Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Juan is very knowledgeable about the history and prehistory of the Inca civilization. He also knew all the best spots for pictures! We really appreciated his expertise.

In general: What an experience! Great guides, chefs, and porters. Alpaca Expeditions is a green company that pays close attention to their carbon footprint, sources their food locally, and has various programs that give back to their community. Bonus: they have a portable toilet that is well maintained and stocked with TP at all times. My personal experience: This is long, but hopefully helpful if you have any reservations about whether you can accomplish this trek! I arrived in Cuzco to acclimate 3 days early…however, I unfortunately succumbed to the altitude on day one of the actual hike and got worse on day 2 and 3. It is not lost on me that I was ONLY able to complete the trek because of the Alpaca team. The chef team, led by Cecilio, were very accommodating to my needs and prepared different teas to try to help me. Our groups guides, Alvin and Yojhan, were beyond encouraging and made sure I was safe the whole time. One of them was always with me even though I took twice as long as the rest of the group. >_< I can’t stress enough how important it is to have the right team supporting you in any situation. Their company’s back bone is stellar, but their actions during the hike showed me their heart is unbeatable.

I recently completed the 4-day Inca Trail with Alpaca Expeditions alongside my teenage daughters, and it exceeded every expectation. The weather was perfect all four days, which made the stunning views even better. Our guides, Yojhan and Alvin, were true experts, sharing deep insights into Incan history, the wildlife, and the flora and fauna of the area. They were incredibly patient and answered every question we had about Peru and more. From the start, they encouraged us to keep smiles on our faces and told us we’d become a “super family” by the end—and that is exactly what happened. The “super porters” worked tirelessly, and our chef Cecilio and his assistant cooked incredible meals for us along the way. Everything went perfectly to plan, and we finished the expedition with celebratory toasts and a shared album for photos with our new friends. I cannot recommend this team highly enough!

The 4 day Inca trip was the best trip i have had in my lifetime. Beyond the scenic scenery everything has been well planned through. Alvin and Yohan were there for any possible inquries and shared a lot of nice insights along the inca trail. The food was better than any regular meal you can grab in town and was served three times a day by the amazing chef Cecilo and his crew. If you don’t do this trip you miss out.

Wonderful experience!!

The guides Rajl and Kenjo were just amazing and well prepared. This is just not a normal tracking, it is a cultural tracking. Raul and kenjo were well prepared and not jut provide us a safe and wonderful tracking but also teach us a lot of history and culture. The food was just amazing, thanks for Julian our chef that made delicious food including an anniversary cake in the middle of the track! An all of this was just possible thanks to the porters that carried all our lounge and tends all the time and received us every day with clapping and smiles. An unforgettable experience !

Great trip

We were detoured due to Classic Inca Trail closure. Alpaca did their best to accommodate the changes, and made our trip still worth well with alternative treks. We got a 3rd night hotel in their new property. Our main guild Raul is knowledgeable and passionate, Kenyo is super kind, always has great smile and is a great photographer. All porters and the chef did fantastic jobs with our accommodation and amazing food on the trail

Absolute 10/10 Company, People and Experience

This is the most deserving 5/5 Star review i have ever given. This trip with my family was absolutely unforgettable and the crew from the company, the guides, the porters/sherpas, chefs, food, views, experience, positive energy, love, support, and help from Alpaca was truly unbelievable. I would recommend this infinitely to everyone to go and do this. Guides Raul and Kenyo, as well as Chef Julian were so fun and amazing. Super helpful with the people in our group that were older and slower. IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE with no warning, the chef with the guides ask made our in-laws AN ENTIRE CAKE for their anniversary. Just unbelievably awesome. Amazing people and hearts.

Best trip EVER!!!!

Our 4 day Inca trail trip was interrrupted when weather and mudslides destroyed part of the Inca trail. Alpaca adventures did a great job of rearranging things and giving us an amazing 4 day adventure which ended at Machu Picchu! Juan and Kenyo were amazing tour guides. They were knowledgeable, friendly, encouraging, and a calming experience during our adventure Julian the chef surprised us for a special anniversary cake for my son and his wife baked over an open flame in the middle of the Andes mountains. The porters were hard working and gave special attention to every detail to make sure our camping experience was fabulous!! 10 out of 10 recommend the company and the entire staff for this once in a lifetime bucket list experience!!

The Best Experience!!!

Raul and Kenyo made the 4 day/3 night trip and best experience!! Lots of various terrains and temperatures…. along with a range of trails. Through it all this team of guides, porters and chefs were AMAZING providing an opportunity for all to experience the magic and wonders of the Inca Trail!

Raul & Kenyo are the best guides ever.

I am not a hiker, nor do I particularly like doing hard things. This trek was extremely difficult and even emotional at times- Raul & Kenyo made every step worth it. Their unrelenting joy, humor and kindness made me want to keep pushing and their encouragement made a world of difference for my experience. I genuinely cannot thank them enough for making this such an extraordinary trip. I am so grateful I did this trek. I’m genuinely going to miss my time with this team- including our porters and super chef Julion. I would come back just to see them again. Thank you so much for everything.

AMAZING!!!

Raul and Kenyo were amazing!! Every time my group went through a hard time, they were always there encouraging us and with a smile. The scenery was BEAUTIFUL. Raul was so knowledgeable about everything. Any question I had he answered. I would not have known anything about the Incas or Machu Picchu if it wasn’t for him. Julian was our head chef and all the food was amazing. Always warm and on time and delicious. Our porters were absolutely outstanding. Tents made perfectly, warm water, and hot tea were always prepared. Truly could not have done this without them. The company as a whole completely knocked it out of the park. So professional, and even with weather and needing to adjust everything was smooth and in order!

Best group/team ever!!

We had the most amazing experience with alpaca. Raul & Kenyo (our tour guides) were incredible and always so positive and encouraging. They made us feel safe and taught us so much Inca history throughout the hikes. My husband and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary and Julien (the head chef) surprised us with a cake in the Inca mountains. It was truly such a special experience, something I will remember forever. Our group was incredible, we all got very close and I think it’s because of how wonderful our tour guides, porters, and chefs were. I would highly highly recommend using alpaca. They were wonderful, the trip/scenery was amazing, and I am so grateful!!

Best hiking trip ever, and I’m an Eagle Scout.

I just had the most amazing adventure over the last 4 days, and I know none of it would have been possible without my amazing tour guides, kenyo and Raul!!!! A massive shoutout to our chef Julian, and our porters as well. Our guides, were so motivational every step of the way. It was definitely a challenging couple days, but the guides made it light hearted, and fun, with so much knowledge about the trails, the sites, and the Incas as well. It really felt like a real life history lesson! After doing this experience, there is no way I would ever hike machu pichu without guides, or a team again! Everyday we showed up to camp, tents made,lunch/ dinner smelling yummy, it was a massive pick me up after a long day. Safe to say this is the way to go!!

Best Group Ever

Raul & Kenyo were the best guides on the planet! Julian also made an entire cake out of the items in his pack for my wife & i’s wedding anniversary! The porter team was amazing as well! Absolutely unbelievable group.

Amazing Trip!

This trek could not have been made any better. Our guides FRANK and WILBUR were so encouraging, enthusiastic, kind, patient, and informative! I learned so much from them both, and it felt like an honor as to hear them share about their culture, heritage, and ancestors with such passion and knowledge. The CHEF’S meals were fantastic and it was so impressive that he could cook such incredible meals in so many places! The PORTERS cannot be understated! What they do truly makes this trip possible. Everything ran so smoothly and I loved doing it with my group. My dad is in his late 60s, it was challenging for him, and I was so happy to see how helpful and encouraging the guides were with him. When he was really struggling they loaned their hiking sticks and even carried his pack for awhile and ALWAYS stayed by his side. I’m so grateful.

Best time and guide!

We had an amazing time with Juan Chavez Pillco. He took care of us, made us laugh, and we become brothers in the end. We will be back for more!

A really great guide!

Unfortunately, the 4d/3n Inca trail was closed due to weather conditions. We got the Huchoy Cusco trek + Short Inca trail instead. I was sad at first and did not get a discount. However, the treks turned out great. Especially sleeping at the Huchoy Cusco site was an unique experience. Furthermore, Alexander was the best guide I’ve ever had. He has a passion for the Inca history, which makes him a great story teller. Above that, he also knows a lot about birds. We have seen a toucan because of that! Recent news has brought a different light on this company. I will not jump into conclusions since police investigation is still going on. However, I hope AE will take care of the mental health of the porters in this moment and in the future.

Great tour, great people

I was scheduled to do the 4d/ 3N Inca trail to Machu Picchu. Due to heavy rains and flash flooding the trip needed to be re routed last minute. Alpaca expeditions did a great job at providing an alternate route that was just as fun and challenging. Our guides Alex and Jose were extremely knowledgeable and competent. They took exceptional care of anyone experiencing difficulty on the trail whether that be altitude sickness or other issues. They also did a great job updating us on any changes in route or weather. I would recommend this company for anyone planning on a trek they are great!

August 25, 2026

Had a great time!

Despite the changes to the trek (owing to bad weather and a landslide) this was an excellent experience. It was well organised, great communication, and overall a wonderful experience. Alexander and Jose were great hosts. I got sick on the first day and had the customer care team check in on me regularly. This was very important to me as a solo traveller. The food and support from the porters was perfect. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!
