Matinga Village visit Sacred Salley

On Sunday, September 1, we started our excursion to the town center of Matinga CCorao. It was a pleasant day when we saw silhouettes of children running in the hills at 8:00 am. Twenty students came accompanied by two parents. These children were from the same town of Matinga. We saw the excitement on their little faces as we traveled to the Sacred Valley. Starting in Pisac, we realized it was the first time these children have ever been to this archaeological center. They all ran from the bus full of excitement, and this made our guide Walter Solis excited as well. The children were able to appreciate every detail they learned from the guide.

All of the children had many questions for the guide. The guide told them the history of the name of that location. The children learned the value of the land and after we had a small breakfast of bread with ham and hot chocolate. After our short break, we continued our journey and asked them what they wanted for lunch, and they all responded with Broaster chicken. When asked why they wanted this so much they said they only get it on special occasions. After lunch, we took them to Ollantaytambo, which was about 2 hours from Cusco. The guide told them the history of this site, and how it was a place to rest for the Incas. The students were amazed, but we could tell they were ready to return to their village. Once the trip was complete, they all got on the bus and told us how much fun they had. We dropped them off at their town of Matinga and said our goodbyes. We were all full of great memories.
