The Children of Huama Visit the South Valley in Cusco

HUAMA is located 30 minutes from the district of Lamay, province of Calca. This community is considered one of the poorest in the area. In it is the Huaman Hanac Elementary school No. 50161 that on Sunday, November 24 were participants of CULTURAL SUNDAYS, one of the main social projects carried out by Alpaca Expeditions.
We went to pick up the children and their teacher to their school, they were waiting for us and we left Huama at 9:00 AM towards Piquillaqta, an archaeological site located south of Cusco. It was a day with clouds and a little sun, the children could sit in the open field so that our guide Juan Carlos Zuluaga can explain the history of the enclosure. The children of Huama were very excited because, in the area of ​​Piquillaqta, the planes that arrive at the Cusco airport passed from time to time, for many of them it was the first time they saw one, causing them great emotion.
At the end of the tour, we get on the bus of the company and start the course towards Tipón. Between both archaeological centers is the Huarcapallay Lagoon, where we made a small stop to take pictures of the children. Something interesting about children is that they are always looking for similarities and differences with the things that are in their community and they were heard a lot to say that “the lagoon in Huama is bigger than this one”.

When we returned to the bus, and since the trip to Tipón was long, we gave the children a small snack that they tasted on the way. Upon arriving at Tipón, we began the ascent towards the archaeological center, when we arrived at one of the important points of the tour our guide began to explain the history and relationship with the Inca culture of that place. Near the end of the tour, it started to rain.

For our good luck arriving in the city of Cusco cleared and the sun came out. So with the children, we could go to enjoy a delicious grilled chicken for lunch. Where we had lunch there were some mechanical games for the children, who did not miss the opportunity to have some fun.
Then, after having lunch and having fun, we headed with the children to their community. On the way back the children began to play in the car, as well as some of them to sing. Almost arriving in Huama, many of them had fallen asleep. When we arrived we had to wake them up and say goodbye to them all. It was a pleasure to have traveled with them.
