Travelers who had booked their flight between Lima and Cusco on Peruvian Airlines in the upcoming months are scrambling to find alternative flights after Peruvian Airlines announced this week that it will no longer offer flights from its Lima base.
While there is a lot of speculation and finger pointing, the reason why “Peruvian Airlines has become the latest casualty in a plague of operational suspensions and bankruptcies that seems to be sweeping the aviation world” isn’t entirely clear. The airline sites “lack of liquidity” in a statement on its website.
What does the Peruvian Airlines suspension and bankruptcy mean for Peru travelers?
For passengers that have already booked flights with the airline, there is uncertainty about the ability to get refunds or transfers. At the moment, there is no solution offered on their website… just a phone number to call.
It should be noted that they did state the search for new investors to refloat the company has started… but the timing and likelihood remain ambiguous.
What airlines can Peru travelers look into as an alternative to Peruvian Airlines?
For those looking to book flights in/to Peru there are two other airline options with flights between Lima and Cusco. Both are international companies that appear to be financially stable.
