In the pursuit to stand out from the rest, Alpaca Expeditions has obtained four ISOs plus our carbon footprint certificate to date. These achievements result from our efforts to implement the internationally-recognized integrated management system. They also represent our commitment to all of our clients and staff of operating sustainability and responsibility in every way possible.
Everyone on the Alpaca Team is from Cusco region, living the traditions and history they share with you while on one of our tours. Our guides are all graduates of university studying tourism, history and english. Our chefs are trained every February by a professional cooking team learning new meals, adding varieties of entrees for all types of eating. And all our porters are from HUARQUI, HUACAHUASI, PATACANCHA, QUISWARANI, CANCHACANCHA, QUEYUPAY, UMACHURCO and CCACCACCOLLO villages, very often working this job on top of maining their farms back at home. Most of our team has been with us for years, as we have the most loyal, hard working, happy employees in Cusco. We know how lucky we are to have the best team trekking and you will immediately fall in love with all the men and women who call Alpaca Expeditions their home.

Luzmarina was there a guy today for the Maras Moray Tour. It was a great tour and she explained stuff throughout the whole time. We learned so much. She was very friendly and knowledgeable.

We went on the half day sacred valley tour and were expertly guided by Luz. The trip was stand out not only for the unique experiences… but also for the small tour group size and the local and detailed knowledge of Luz. Woukd highly recommend! 👍
A fantastic experience with Alpaca Expeditions on the 4 day/ 3 night Inca trail. They looked after us very well, even those in the group who were finding it hard (it is very hard but definitely worth it!) A deep thank you to Elisban and Abram our guides who were always helpful and knowledgeable. I particularly liked Elisban pointing out the exotic plants along the path- he has so much knowledge of this area. An unforgettable experience!
Journey of our lives!
My wife and I just completed a 4-day, 3-night journey (26 miles) backpacking through the Inca Trail that concluded in Machu Picchu. We booked through Alpaca Expeditions and we are so thankful that we did! This is a well-organized machine who made the process so seemless from booking, communication before and during the hike, to providing support all the way through the trek. I can honestly state that they had the hardest working guides, porters (called Chaskies) and chefs all committed to making your experience successful and enjoyable. Ivan (pronounced Eban) and Yadira were our guides and we were so blessed to have been assigned to these two amazing individuals whose sole goal was to make certain our group of 10 finished successfully! I'm a 68 year old male with Osteoarthritis in both knees, but athletic. This trail hike was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, and I was always the caboose. All through the trail either Yadira or Ivan would be behind me to encourage me, remind me to breathe and to drink water, which was so important on this hike. They never left me and never did I feel any pressure from the rear, but only encouragement, support and cheerleading all four days! As a bonus. Ivan would share the history of the various Inca sites along the way with such passion and detail! A wonderful teacher who could easily be sharing his knowledge in the classroom! The amazing Chaskies led by Cornelius were amazing carrying our personal items up to 7.7 pounds, our sleeping bags, foam mattress and pillow. They would strap these 50-pound bags and run to the next lunch site and then to our next campsite to set everything up for our arrival always smiling. On this 4-day adventure, we are treated like kings and queens! Breakfast, lunch and dinner were stacked with incredibly fresh Peruvian cuisine! Super Chef, Gregorio prepared such plentiful and delicious meals and had everything ready for us when we arrived at the lunch and campsites. Such a talented professional and we thank him with all of our hearts! It is a challenging journey, but Alpaca Expeditions made it possible for me and my wife along with 8 others to successfully complete it. The elation we felt cresting the Sun Gate and seeing Machu Picchu is indescribable, and it was made possible through the efforts of Ivan, Yadiri, Chef Gregorio, and Cornelius and his staff. If you want the adventure of a lifetime and are willing to put yourself to the test, we wholeheartedly recommend Alpaca Expeditions! If you want shorter excursions, they have those as well. We had a fabulous experience. Our tour guide Valentine was helpful patient and provided us with an abundance of cultural and historical information. He supported us throughout our hike with constant attention and information. Chef Miguel prepared excellent meals while we were hiking. There was always a variety of dishes and we especially enjoyed the cake. Fredy and his crew had the campsites completely set up upon our arrival and we’re willing to assist us with anything we needed during the trip. They were a great group to have looking after us . Together these men provided us with an excellent tour.

Had a great experience with Alpaca Expeditions! My guide Saul did a great job of taking our group through the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. He had a lot of knowledge of the area and the Incan history. He was also a great storyteller, which made learning more enjoyable.
Cusco City Tour
Our travel guide David called us last night to make sure we were prepared for the day. He picked us up right at our hotel. The tour had so much information and David was very patient with our questions. He was also patient with my picture taking. He told us where to stand to get the best photos. He also took some of my husband and I. The tour encompassed many historical sites. We were more than happy. We would highly recommend David!

Had the most incredible time doing the Saltankay pass trail with my sister! It was super challenging but infinitely rewarding. Edward and David were amazing hosts & guides and their knowledge and perspective helped add something really special to the experience. The food was delicious, the porters were great too and it was organised very well. We made a lot of friends along the way - highly recommend :)
