Porters’ Vacation to Southern Cusco & Puno
Behind every unforgettable trek to Machu Picchu, there is an extraordinary team that makes each experience possible: our Green Machine. 💚 Our porters wake up before dawn and carry much more than equipment; they carry heart, dedication, and pride. At high altitude they prepare meals, support the guides, and work with a passion and commitment that turn every trek into a truly unique experience for our travelers.
For this reason, at Alpaca Expeditions we believe it is equally important to care for and thank those who make every adventure possible. On February 28th, 2026, our porters and chefs began a fully sponsored vacation, traveling to Puno and Lake Titicaca, along with other remarkable destinations around the lake. This journey is our small gesture of gratitude for the incredible impact they make every single day on the trails of the Andes.
During this experience, our porters also have the opportunity to become travelers themselves, exploring new places and visiting destinations that are often difficult for them to experience. Along the way, they discovered the famous Uros Floating Islands, learning about the communities that live on islands built from totora reeds, and also visited Amantaní Island, sharing special moments together as coworkers and friends.
There was also time to relax, enjoy the landscapes, share laughter, and recharge. It became a moment to step away from daily work and create memories that will remain with everyone who is part of this great family.
At Alpaca Expeditions, gratitude is part of who we are. Our chefs and porters are some of the most important people behind every trek to Machu Picchu, and this journey is a way to recognize their effort, dedication, and the vital role they play in every adventure.
Because when you travel with us, you travel with family. 💚🦙
